TOEIC Part5「動詞の形」の解き方と頻出パターン|練習10問つき
動詞の形の問題は、選択肢に同じ動詞の原形・-ing・-ed・to不定詞・三単現などが並ぶタイプです。文に述語動詞があるか、助動詞や前置詞の後ろか、能動か受動かを順に確認します。
解き方のポイント
- 助動詞(will, can, must, should)の後ろは原形
- 文に述語動詞がまだなければ、時制と主語に合った動詞を入れる
- require / ask / encourage + 人 + to do の形
- suggest / recommend / request + that + 主語 + 原形(仮定法現在)
- 前置詞の後ろは動名詞(-ing)
ひっかけ注意
- look forward to / be committed to の to は前置詞なので後ろは -ing
- make / have / let + 人 + 原形(使役動詞)
- 主語が物で、動作を受けるなら受動態(is scheduled, was delivered)
例文で確認
| All visitors must sign in at the front desk. | must の後ろ → 原形 |
| We look forward to meeting you. | to は前置詞 → meeting |
| The manager recommended that he attend the seminar. | recommend that + 原形 |

Q1. All visitors must ___ at the front desk before entering the building.
答えと解説を見る
正解: A) register
'Must' is a modal verb, and modals are always followed by the base form of the next verb. So 'register' is correct. 'Registers' is third-person singular present, 'registered' is past tense/past participle, and 'registration' is a noun — none of these can follow a modal directly.
Q2. Only after the inspection was completed ___ the factory resume production.
答えと解説を見る
正解: A) did
When a limiting adverbial phrase like 'Only after...' is fronted, the main clause is inverted like a question. Since 'resume' is the base form, the auxiliary 'did' is correct (did the factory resume). 'Was' is a be-verb and doesn't combine with 'resume'. 'Has' would need the past participle 'resumed'. 'Could' is grammatically possible, but for stating a fact, 'did' is the natural choice.
Q3. Please ___ us know if you require any additional documentation.
答えと解説を見る
正解: A) let
This is an imperative sentence beginning with 'Please', so the verb must be the base form: 'let'. 'Let us know' is a set expression meaning 'please inform us'. 'Lets' is third-person singular, 'letting' is a present participle, and 'to let' is an infinitive — none can be the verb of an imperative sentence.
Q4. The proposal was rejected because it ___ the required specifications.
答えと解説を見る
正解: B) did not meet
The clause explains why 'the proposal was rejected', so it should logically be negative: it 'did not meet the required specifications'. The past-tense negative is 'did not meet'. 'Met' (positive) would contradict the rejection. 'Meeting' and 'to meet' can't serve as the main verb of the because-clause, which needs a finite verb with a subject.
Q5. Should you have any questions, please ___ free to contact our support team.
答えと解説を見る
正解: A) feel
This follows 'please' as part of an imperative sentence, so the verb must be the base form 'feel'. 'Feel free to do' is a set expression meaning 'please do not hesitate to'. 'Feels' is third-person singular, 'feeling' is a participle, and 'felt' is past tense — none can be used in an imperative sentence. Note that 'Should you have...' at the start is an inverted form of 'if you should have...', expressing a condition.
Q6. The crew ___ resurfacing the yard when the rain began.
Q7. We regret ___ you that the event has been canceled.
Q8. The board requested that Mr. Chen ___ the proposal again.
Q9. The technician who ___ the servers is on leave this week.
答えと解説を見る
正解: D) maintains
The relative clause subject 'who' refers to the singular 'technician', so 'maintains' is used.
Q10. The manager instructed the team to ___ the report before the meeting.
