TOEIC Part5「形容詞」の解き方と頻出パターン|練習10問つき
形容詞の問題は、名詞の前や be動詞・become の後ろに入る語を選ぶ問題です。品詞の判断に加えて、似た形の形容詞の意味の違い(considerable / considerate など)が狙われます。
解き方のポイント
- 名詞の直前は形容詞(an ___ proposal)
- be / become / remain / seem の後ろの補語は形容詞
- make / keep / find + 目的語 + 形容詞
- 数量の形容詞:many(可算)/ much(不可算)、few / little
- available / eligible / responsible / capable など前置詞とセットの形容詞
ひっかけ注意
- considerable(かなりの)と considerate(思いやりのある)、economic(経済の)と economical(節約になる)
- reliable / dependable は「頼りになる」、reliant / dependent は「頼っている」
- -ly で終わる形容詞(timely, costly)を副詞と間違えない
例文で確認
| The hotel is available for private events. | be の後ろ → 形容詞 |
| Employees are eligible for the bonus after one year. | be eligible for |
| The new system is more economical than the old one. | 節約になる → economical |

Q1. Attendees are reminded to keep their badges ___ at all times.
答えと解説を見る
正解: A) visible
This is the 'keep O C' pattern (keep something in a certain state), and the complement C is an adjective. 'Keep the badge visible' means 'keep the badge in a visible state', so 'visible' is correct. 'Visibly' is an adverb and can't serve as the complement. 'Vision' and 'visibility' are nouns and would give the odd meaning of turning the badge into vision itself.
Q2. The contract will remain ___ until the end of the fiscal year.
答えと解説を見る
正解: A) valid
'Remain' means 'to continue to be' and takes an adjective as its complement. The meaning is 'the contract remains valid', so 'valid' is correct. 'Validly' is an adverb and can't serve as the complement. 'Validate' is a verb and 'validity' is a noun. Remain, stay, and become all take adjective complements the same way.
Q3. The consultant provided ___ advice on improving operational efficiency.
答えと解説を見る
正解: C) valuable
The blank modifies the noun 'advice', so the adjective 'valuable' (worthwhile) is correct. 'Value' is a noun/verb, 'valuably' is an adverb, and 'valued' is a past participle meaning 'held dear' — for describing the quality of the advice itself, 'valuable' fits best.
Q4. The budget proposal was returned to the department for ___ revision.
答えと解説を見る
正解: C) further
The meaning is 'for further revision' — expressing degree or addition in the abstract, so 'further' is correct. 'Further' is used for abstract degree or addition, while 'farther' is used for physical distance. 'Far' is the base form and 'furthest' is the superlative. 'Further information' and 'further details' are common noun-modifying uses.
Q5. The equipment must be handled with ___ care during transport.
答えと解説を見る
正解: A) extreme
The blank modifies the noun 'care', so the adjective 'extreme' is correct. 'With extreme care' means 'with the utmost caution'. 'Extremely' is an adverb, and 'extremity'/'extremes' are nouns. The pattern 'with + adjective + noun' expresses manner.
Q6. The Pembroke hotel is ___ for business travelers.
Q7. The staff were ___ about the relocation plan.
Q8. Ms. Lin is ___ with the results of the survey.
Q9. The client was ___ with the quality of the samples.
