Q1. The presentation was ___ informative that attendees requested a follow-up session.
答えと解説を見る
正解: B) so
'So ... that ~' means 'so ... that ~ (as a result)', and 'so' fills the blank. 'Such' follows the pattern 'such a + adjective + noun', which doesn't fit here since a bare adjective follows the blank. 'Very' and 'too' don't form a construction with a following 'that' clause. The adjective right after the blank, plus the later 'that', are the clues.
Q2. The new policy applies to all staff, ___ of their department.
答えと解説を見る
正解: C) regardless
'Regardless of' is a compound preposition meaning 'irrespective of', and it takes the noun phrase 'their department' after it, so 'regardless' is correct. 'Regard' is a verb/noun, 'regarding' is a preposition meaning 'concerning' (a different meaning), and 'regarded' is a past participle. It's best memorized together with 'of'.
Q3. The seminar will cover topics ___ as time management and delegation.
答えと解説を見る
正解: B) such
'Topics such as A and B' means 'topics like A and B', an example construction, so 'such' is correct. 'So as' is only used in the pattern 'so as to do' (in order to). 'Much as' means 'although' (a concession). 'Same as' means 'identical to'. None of these fit an example construction.
