In a dry valley in western Canada, there is a lake that looks like a giant polka dot pattern every summer.
In spring, it looks much like any other lake.
But it has no river flowing out of it, and its water contains an unusually large amount of dissolved minerals.
As the hot summer sun evaporates most of the water, hundreds of separate pools appear, divided by paths of hardened minerals.
Each pool has its own mix of minerals, so the colors range from blue and green to yellow.
For centuries, the local Indigenous people have treated the lake as a sacred place of healing.
To protect it, visitors are asked to view it only from the roadside.
