In 2007, a remarkable event happened near a beach in New Zealand.
Two swimmers, a mother and her teenage daughter, were swimming about 100 meters from shore when they suddenly found themselves surrounded by a pod of dolphins.
The dolphins were swimming in circles around them, splashing and making noises.
At first, the swimmers were confused and a bit scared.
Then they noticed something alarming - a great white shark was approaching them.
The dolphins had formed a protective circle around the swimmers to keep the shark away.
For over 40 minutes, the dolphins escorted the swimmers safely back to shore.
